Jennifer Nicole Patterson
What you need to know:
Born on January 13th, 1984
Disappeared on June 23rd, 1991 from Spring Lake, North Carolina
Has light brown hair and brown eyes
Has a freckle on the tip of her nose
Was last seen wearing an orange, pink, yellow and turquoise one piece bathing suit
What we know about her case:
We know that Jennifer was last seen walking to a neighbour's home in the trailer park in which she lived (Holly Hills Mobile Home Park, which is now abandoned) at around 1:15pm on June 23rd. She never made it, and hasn't been seen since.
Her parents were divorced at the time, and her father failed a polygraph test. He is convinced that she is still alive and being taken care of, and her disappearance was a result of the custody dispute. Police consider her father a suspect, and they also suspect her to be deceased. Her family believes she could be alive.
From my humble point of view:
I think it is very plausible for Jennifer to be alive. I also believe it's plausible she is not. After reading everything I could find, I'm still on the fence. Now that she is legal age, I can't see why she would be living in hiding, unless she wanted to protect the parent that hid her. She also may not have any recollection of this past life, but I find that hard to believe since she was seven and a half when she vanished.
The more sinister side to the story is that she isn't alive. Her father failed a polygraph test, but to me that doesn't completely mean he was involved. Maybe he knows more than he's telling, maybe he is just a nervous person - as outsiders we'll never know. We can only speculate. I know there are horrible people who do horrible things to their own children. Coming from a stable, functioning household, it's hard for me to fathom how people can do this. I also don't like to jump to parents first, although a good percent of the time they are to blame.
